Treasurer Candidates

  • As your Treasurer and former Assistant Treasurer, I've strengthened NAASC's financial systems through modernized processes, expanded transparency, and smarter record-keeping.

A BA in Economics and 20+ years of federal experience ground everything I do. I'm committed to stewardship, accountability, and building infrastructure that serves our mission long-term. The work is working — and I'm ready to continue it!

Assistant Treasurer Candidates

  • My dear Spelman Sisters, it has been my privilege and high honor to serve as your assistant treasurer for the past two years.

During that time, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you in person and so many others virtually. I have come to appreciate, even more, the commitment that is needed to serve at this level and come before you once more to humbly ask for your support in serving for another term.

I believe in servant and collaborative leadership with a focus on our amazing intergenerational sisterhood.

  • AMANDA MARIE JAMES, PHD C’2008

Leadership is a calling Spelman instilled in us, and I am ready to answer with purpose, clarity, and accountability.

I previously served as Bylaws Committee Chair for the Atlanta Chapter and now serve as a Southeastern Regional Delegate, which has deepened my commitment to NAASC’s mission and strengthened my understanding of the governance that supports our sisterhood.

As Assistant Treasurer, I will assist the Treasurer, ensure timely and accurate disbursements, maintain transparent and trustworthy financial practices, and modernize our systems to enhance accessibility and efficiency.

I am dedicated to leveraging my professional expertise to strengthen NAASC and promote our vision.

Corresponding Secretary Candidates

  • As a young alumnae member of NAASC, and currently serving as Chapter President for the Decatur Chapter, being a member has been invaluable to my personal and professional success.

If elected Corresponding Secretary, I hope to assist with updating communication channels so that NAASC members feel informed about upcoming events on the local, regional, and national level, as well as ensuring communications are drafted and approved well before deadlines.

Thank you for the chance to submit my self-nomination to run for office and the potential opportunity to serve my Spelman sisters on the national level!

Kailyn Brooks, C'2017

  • Greetings, I am Dr Jamita Cobb class of 2007 currently serving as the President of the Golden Isles chapter.

I bring strong written communication skills, creative engagement strategies, and a deep commitment to promoting the Spelman legacy.

I will help amplify our organization’s work by strengthening member relationships and inspire participation.

I will showcase meaningful initiatives and ensure that local chapters are visible and their NAASC mission-driven efforts are showcased.
